Police in Rapid City are investigating a suspicious death that occurred early Sunday morning.
At 5:30 a.m. Rapid City Police responded to Walgreens after a man walking into the store with blood on him.
The first responders were able to locate a deceased male in the alley behind Cold Stone Creamery.
Police halted their investigation Sunday morning until a warrant was issued to intrude on the homeless camps in the alley.
"It is more of a precaution than anything, to make sure that we have the legal right to be in those spaces that these people have created so that later on down the road, nobody can dispute our right to be in there looking for evidence of a crime or whatever had occurred here,” said Rapid City Patrol Sergeant Wayne Asscherick.
The victim has not yet been identified and an autopsy is pending. Two male subjects are currently being interviewed by detectives and no arrests have been made.
