NorthWestern Energy plans 8 hour outage for Wessington, Vayland

Posted: Updated:

Huron, S.D. – NorthWestern Energy has scheduled maintenance on Tuesday, July 15, 2014, that will result in an outage beginning at 8:00 a.m. and lasting as long as 5:00 p.m. for all customers in Wessington and Vayland, S.D. and some farms to the west of Wessington.

NorthWestern says the company is upgrading the system to a higher voltage. The outage is necessary to transfer electric load safely from the current system to the new system.

“We have upgraded much of the electric system between Wessington and Vayland with higher voltage transformers and electric load handling equipment which will support the growth needs of this area for years to come,”said Rick Hoffman, Huron Area Manager. “We understand that this outage will be a disruption to many residents and businesses, so to ensure the work goes quickly we will have a very large crew on hand to perform the work.”

In the event that bad weather is forecast on the day of the scheduled maintenance, the work will be done the following day. For any questions or concerns, please call our Customer Contact Center at (800) 245-6977.
