With the weather being as nice as it, many parents are heading to the Great Plains Zoo with their kids. The zoo has a lot of activities for kids this summer.
Creature Features happen twice daily at the Zoo. It’s a chance for adults and children to get up-close to and learn about small animals like a Bearded Dragon or a Chinchilla. Visitors looking for an out-of-the-ordinary Zoo experience can feed kale to one of several giraffes roaming our African Savannah.
The zoo also has a ZooMobile. It always includes a visit from at least four of our handling animals, and audience members have the opportunity to touch at least one of them. The animals that participate in ZooMobiles are just a few of the more than 1,000 animals that are at Great Plains Zoo.
The Great Plains Zoo has many camps to choose from for children. Children ages 4 – 11 can take part in a half day, whole day, or even week-long summer learning adventures at the Zoo. For the younger set, the Zoo Camp experience includes favorites like a Carrousel or Train Ride and up-close animal encounter along with some special activities like crafts and games that aren’t part of a “typical” Zoo visit.
The Jungle Jubilee is the Zoo’s annual fundraiser and it’s also a very fun evening of great food, live entertainment and special animal encounters. You can bid on some unique experiences and items like vacations or one-of-a-kind artwork. You can even bid for a chance to paint with a Penguin or have a private dinner with our Snow Monkeys.
