Watertown police investigate high speed crash with injuries

Police in Watertown are investigating an injury crash that happened around 7:30 Friday night.

A 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup driven by a 15 year-old male from Hot Springs, South Dakota was traveling northbound at a high rate of speed as it approached 16th Avenue and North Maple Street in Watertown.

A 2009 Chevrolet Avalanche, driven by Donald Walraven of Watertown was traveling eastbound through the intersection after stopping for the stop sign. The Dodge Ram failed to stop for the northbound stop sign and impacted the Walraven vehicle.

The crash caused significant damage to both vehicles, a parked vehicle, as well as several trees in the area. Damage estimates are not available as of this time.

Walraven and an adult passenger were transported to Prairie Lakes Hospital where they were treated for undisclosed injuries. The juvenile male was cited for Reckless Driving and a Stop Sign Violation and released to a guardian.
