The 43rd Annual Brookings Summer Arts Festival drew in huge crowds this weekend. Rain and mud slowed traffic Saturday morning, but that did not stop crowds from gathering on Sunday.
Pioneer Park in Brookings South Dakota had large crowds come to see over 200 Artists from around the country on Sunday. The Festival also helps local businesses along with local charities. The Brookings Boy Scout troop is in charge of parking at the Arts Festival each year, a fundraiser that means a great deal to the kids.
“We have 5 parking lots, and people that come to the Arts Festival can park in our parking lots. Its $5 dollars for the whole day. That money goes to the Boy Scouts, they can go to summer camps, we do camp outs once a month,” said Marlon Overholt from Boy Scout Troop 4.
Overhold says without this annual fundraiser, many of boy scouts in his troop would not be able to go to summer camps.
