Stand-up paddleboard race this Saturday on Lake Alvin

Posted: Updated:
Have you ever tried stand-up paddleboarding? It's an activity trending across the nation and becoming a growing one in our community. Stacey Niewenhuis from 605 Fit joined the KSFY Morning News to chat about the activity which isn't as well-known in South Dakota as it is in coastal regions.

The 2nd annual Stand-up Paddleboarding (SUP) Nami Race is being held at Lake Alvin on Saturday August 9th. It's also the second year in raising awareness for the local SUP community, SUP safety and outdoor fitness.

This event will begin with 1.5 miles of Stand-up Paddleboarding, transitioning to a 3.1 mile run. There will be a technical shirt for each participant, post race food and beverages, and prizes for the top 3 finishers in the individual race (both mens and womens) and team relay. This event is for all levels of fitness, from never been on a SUP board to the expert, to ages 16+.
