Volleyball Opens Camp, Ranked 21st in Preseason AVCA Poll

 The Northern State volleyball team opened fall camp for the 2014 season Monday with a pair of practices in Wachs Arena. The Wolves will have four days this week of two-a-days. Saturday the Wolves will be holding an intra-squad scrimmage beginning at 4 p.m.

The Wolves are led by All-American and NSIC Preseason Player of the Year Kelsey Chambers. Chambers was a First Team All-NSIC selection last season. All-NSIC second team members Tori Biach and Drew Smith also return to this year's squad.
Reigning NSIC Coach of the Year Brent Aldridge begins his fourth season with the Wolves. Aldridge led NSU to a 22-8 mark last season and the school's second-ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament (2006) and first-ever ranking in the AVCA top-25. NSU's 22 wins in 2013 were the second-most in program history.
Also on Monday, the preseason AVCA top-25 poll was released with Northern coming in at No. 21. A total of five schools in the NSIC are ranked in the poll with seven-time defending National Champion Concordia-St. Paul claiming the top spot. Minnesota Duluth is ranked third, while Southwest Minnesota comes in at No. 7 and Wayne State is 20th.
