SIOUX FALLS - The Democratic candidate for South Dakota governor is asking that another member of her party sit in on a committee looking into reported misconduct with the EB-5 visa program in the Governor's Office of Economic Development.
Rep. Susan Wismer asked Republican chairman Sen. Larry Tidemann to allow Democratic legislative leaders to choose a proxy for her at the Sept. 24 meeting of the Government Operations and Audit Committee meeting. She says if her campaign creates a conflict, she's willing to step aside.
Tidemann could not immediately be reached for comment.
He says he has asked former visa program administrator Joop (YOHP) Bollen to attend the meeting and go over its history. He also asked U.S. Attorney Brendan Johnson to brief lawmakers on any investigations.
