On January 1st, 2008 Wendell & Betty Anderson's home endured a fire which originated in the garage. Wendell suffered smoke inhalation and second degree burns and is still in intensive care but doing better.
When the family called Second Chance Rescue, Rosey Quinn, Executive Director was happy to help care for the family pets while they put things back together.
Today, January 11th, 2008 Betty and her daughter Connie who also lives in the home came to reunite with Sadie & Buddy, Shih Tzus, and Cuddles the family cat. All three pets resided in the office and interacted with staff and other pet-playmates while displaced. By the wiggles and tail wags, there was no doubt the pets were happy to see their owners again.
Second Chance Rescue Center has no intention of billing the Anderson family for boarding since the family is already coping with Wendell's recovery and dealing with repairing damages to their home and the temporary separation from their furry companions. The family has graciously offered a donation for the help.
Second Chance Rescue Center does not offer general boarding services to the public. We understand the bond between an owner and pet. We will try to help whenever reasonably possible. We are so happy the family is doing well and will be able to resume the start of a New Year with their pets!
Donations can be made in honor of “The Anderson Family”, another happy ending, which will enable Second Chance Rescue Center to continue helping families and their pets when in need. Call 362-1722, visit or mail to 26707 466th Ave SF SD 57106.
