Courtney Collen moved to the Mount Rushmore State to join the KSFY News team in January 2011. She has experience as a multimedia journalist, weekend anchor, producer and morning news reporter. However, it was on her four year anniversary when Courtney was named co-anchor of KSFY’s award-winning weeknight news team.
Since the beginning of her career as a broadcast journalist, Courtney has covered historic flooding along the Missouri River in 2011, devastating tornadoes, blizzards, the Sioux Falls ice storm in April 2013 and President Barack Obama’s visit to Watertown in 2015…to name a few. She has co-anchored a newscast beside all four members of legendary rock band “KISS”. In June 2016, she was the only member of the local media selected for a ride with the U.S. Navy Blue Angels before their appearance in the Sioux Falls Air Show.
Other career highlights include a 2015 Upper Midwest Emmy Award for Breaking News Coverage of the fire at Pierre Capitol Inn and Suites in November 2014 and a Midwest Broadcast Journalists Association’s Eric Sevareid Award for coverage of the President’s visit to Watertown.
Born in Scottsdale, Courtney spent several years growing up in St. Louis, Missouri. She's a graduate of the University of Arizona in Tucson. Go Cats! She loves to stay active and outdoors. When she's not anchoring the news, she's cheering on her favorite sports teams, running or biking on the trails, practicing hot yoga, traveling, cooking or enjoying a downtown Sioux Falls patio. Courtney married her best friend in September, 2017. Not long after, they added two puppies to their home: Kellar is a standard Goldendoodle and Penny is a yellow Labrador. She's proud to call Sioux Falls home and is thrilled to see it grow everyday.
