SIOUX FALLS, SD 10,000 communities across America helped with the 27th annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive Saturday morning. Carriers collected more than 35 tons in weight last year. Since the event began in 1993, more than 500,000 tons of food have been donated, but it's getting to know the people being served that makes it special.
"It's just great to be a part of that, and great to do something truly kind and good for people," food drive coordinator Eric Wicks said.
All of the food collected in South Dakota will go to residents within the state.
