Sioux Falls school receives Strider bikes

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Dozens of parents and community members gathered at Eugene Field Elementary to put together some bikes.

The bikes were donated by Strider, which is a bike company out of Rapid City. The donation was made through their strider foundation.
The school received a grant from the Sioux Falls Area Community Foundation to help bring the bikes and the Learn-to-Ride Program to Eugene Field Elementary.

"Strider bike is a balance bike, so students can start off, in fact, Strider has perfected the balance bike," said Linda McDaniel, principal at Eugene Field Elementary. "And it allows students to start off with just practicing that balance piece, getting the coordination and balance, for just standing, walking, turning, those types of skills and then eventually these bikes do have the capability to put, a peddle kit on them, so then kids can learn to peddle and control that bike"

The school will utilize the Learn-to-Ride Program for the kindergarten and first-grade students starting next fall.
