SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KSFY) - There's been a secret looming over running enthusiasts in Sioux Falls.
Many have been following along since the Sioux Falls marathon last year and have been anxious to find out what could be next.
"We started the secret at the Sioux Falls half-marathon, and marathon weekend, we collected email addresses. And it was just a slow build to tonight, where we were finally able to reveal the brand and the race,” Co-Owner of 605 Running Co. Greg Koch said.
Greg Koch and his team had every intention of growing the Sioux Falls marathon and making it bigger than ever so they teamed up with Pink Gorilla Events.
"So we as a staff have all run events that they've put on and knew that they were the best around and that's how we ended up getting them to join us," Koch said.
Pink Gorilla Events creates events that are completely different than what has been seen before.
"One thing that we really pride ourselves on is promoting and producing unique events to the cities where we are," Pink Gorilla Director of Community Relations Zach Harsin said.
The course will be jam packed with plenty to see with a nice scenic route of Sioux Falls starting in downtown.
"We'll have bands and DJ's and all the fun stuff. Cheer stations out there to bring everyone around the course and then you know just an amazing course that showcases the best Sioux Falls has to offer," Harsin said.
Runners were so excited to hear the secret and one drove three hours from Aberdeen.
"I'm really happy you know it's going to be a nice race for the spring time. It’s going to have a lot of participants in it, very competitive,” Aberdeen resident Jeremy Vanveen said.
Avera even heard about the secret and wanted to be a part of something that promoted health and wellness.
"They heard about this event. They heard about the secret if you will and they just couldn't stay away. They wanted to be a part of something that was uniquely Sioux Falls," Harsin said.
The Skedaddle Half-Marathon will take place April 28, 2019. Registration will begin January 1, 2019 at 10 a.m.
