American Red Cross opens two shelters to help people affected by flooding

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The American Red Cross has opened two shelters, one in Sioux Falls and one in Yankton, to help people affected by flooding.

The shelter in Sioux Falls is located at the American Red Cross office, which is at 808 N. West Avenue. The shelter in Yankton is at the Senior Center at 900 Whiting Drive.

Anyone who is evacuated from their homes or just affected by flooding can go to the shelters for food, beverages, information updates and just a safe place to stay.

The agency is reminding people to avoid flooded areas, turn around and create an emergency kit.
