(KSFY) - State officials have identified the Sioux Falls woman killed in a three-vehicle crash in rural Minnehaha County.
Nineteen-year-old Caitlyn Carman died in Thursday's crash, according to Department of Public Safety Spokesman Tony Mangan.
The accident happened Thursday on South Dakota Highway 42 about 20 miles west of Sioux Falls.
Mangan says Carman was driving a 2004 Honda CR-V when she slowed down to make a left turn. She was struck from behind by a 1996 Dodge Caravan. The collision pushed the CR-V into the path of an oncoming semi truck.
Carman was pronounced dead at the scene. A 10-year-old passenger in her car was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Caravan, 52-year-old Mark Begeman of Monroe, and his passenger were treated for minor injuries. Mangan says charges are pending against Begeman.
The Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.
