(KSFY) - A strong blizzard is creating dangerous driving conditions across much of central and eastern South Dakota.

A driving conditions map from Safe Travel USA shows no travel advised across most of central South Dakota, as well as large parts of the southeast region of the state. It also showed icy conditions in nearly every other region of the state.

Authorities have advised no travel on the Interstate system around Sioux Falls, according to Captain Loren McManus of the Sioux Falls Police Department. Police are reporting that roads in the city are quickly becoming snow packed and slippery as the blizzard continues.

State officials closed I-90 from Mitchell to Murdo Monday morning due to the blizzard.

Meteorologists are expecting very strong wind gusts and several inches of snow in most of central and eastern South Dakota. You can get the latest weather conditions here.
