WATERTOWN, S.D. (KSFY) - No one was hurt after a charter bus carrying a North Dakota women's basketball team slid off Interstate 29 and into a creek bed Monday, reports KVLY.

The accident happened south of Watertown as the Valley City State University team was traveling down the slick interstate to Sioux City ahead of its game in the NAIA Division II Women's National Basketball Championship later this week.

Coach Vanessa Keeler-Johnson told KVLY that 21 people were on the bus when it went off the road about a half-mile before coming to a rest in a creek bed.

She said the players were shaken up from the accident.

Everyone was transported to a truck stop in Watertown where a second charter bus picked them up.

South Dakota officials closed I-29 from the North Dakota border to Sioux City on Monday due to blizzard conditions. It was reopened Tuesday afternoon.
