City hitting reset button on railyard development project

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KSFY) - A major development project proposed for downtown Sioux Falls will have to start from the ground up.

KSFY News learned Thursday that City officials and the developers behind the Black Iron Railyard project have decided to "hit the reset button."

Last summer developers David and Erika Billion announced plans to invest $70 million at the property.

Sioux Falls deputy Chief of Staff T.J. Nelson said those plans fell through due to a number of of changes at the property.

The City still plans on developing the area, which the City bought from BNSF Railway in 2015.

They will begin accepting new bids sometime next year.

The Billions said they do plan on submitting a new, revised proposal.
