MADISON, S.D. – The southbound lane of Highway 34 in Madison will be periodically closed from Second Street northeast to Fourth Street southeast starting today.

Traffic is currently reduced to one lane in each direction in the northbound lanes of Highway 34. Southbound traffic will be periodically closed during daylight hours and will be opened nightly and when no construction is taking place.
Transportation officials said over-width vehicles and through traffic will be detoured using the Highway 34 bypass. Local traffic will be detoured using either Lincoln Avenue or Lee Avenue.
The estimated completion date is Nov. 29 and the overall completion date is August 2020.
