'Cop on a Rooftop' raises money for Special Olympics South Dakota

Sioux Falls, S.D. - It was a unique sight in Sioux Falls Saturday as local law enforcement officers were on the roof of Hy-Vee grocery stores.

They're raising money and creating awareness for Special Olympics South Dakota.

‘Cop on a Rooftop’ is in its second year and is a part of the annual law enforcement torch run.

“People just get a kick out of it because you don't usually see somebody on the roof let alone a police officer on the roof talking to you, getting some jokes going on the morning,” Special Olympics South Dakota assistant torch run liaison Amy Crawford said. “So it really brightens their day.”

Their goal this year is to raise $10,000 and the money goes toward hundreds of athletes competing each year in Special Olympics.
