UPDATE: Three people injured in crash on I-90 near I-229 interchange

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - UPDATE: According to Tony Mangan with the South Dakota Department of Public Safety, all three vehicles were eastbound on I-90. The Ford F250 pulling the camper was stopped for traffic backed up due to construction.

The 67-year-old driver of the Kia Sedona was struck from behind by a Pontiac Grand Prix, driven by Charles Olson, 38, from Luverene, MN. The Kia went through the median, across the westbound lane and into the north ditch. The Grand Prix then hit the camper/pickup.

The passenger, a 64-year-old male, in the Kia Sedona received life threatening injuries.

UPDATE: According to Tony Mangan with the South Dakota Department of Public Safety, one person has life-threatening injuries from Thursday's crash. Two others sustained serious, non life-threatening injuries.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol is still investigating the crash, but Mangan said one vehicle rear-ended the second and that vehicle rear-ended a third vehicle.

One driver has charges pending against them. More details on the crash are expected to be released Friday.

Two cars that appear to have collided head-on are in the westbound lanes. Another car is in the eastbound ditch.

An air ambulance is also on the scene. Traffic in the area is also backed up.
