Downtown Sioux Falls gets treated to antique automobile race, Friday

Downtown Sioux Falls visitors are in for a blast from the past.

The 2016 Great Race is making its way down Phillips Avenue, Friday night.

The annual race features 120 of the world's finest antique automobiles and this year, the track goes through Sioux Falls from California to Illinois.

It's not just about speed, organizers say. Drivers are judged on time and distance and expected to be at certain landmarks at certain times. Being too late or too early results in a penalty. If everything goes as planned, all cars should finish within a minute of each other.

Riders will stay the night in Sioux Falls and continue to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Saturday.
