SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KSFY) - Firefighters are "filling the boot" in Sioux Falls to support the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
The campaign raises money to help people living with muscular dystrophy, ALS and similar diseases.
"We're just really trying to engage the community in a positive manner through multiple different avenues and this is one of the avenues, raising money for muscular dystrophy," said Travis Pugliese with Sioux Falls Fire Rescue. "All the money stays local."
Funds also help send more than 150 area kids to an MDA Summer Camp, all at no cost to families.
Firefighters will be at Sioux Falls HyVee locations, with boots in hand, accepting donations through Wednesday.
