A Garretson woman has been identified as the person who died in a two-vehicle crash last Tuesday night west of Brandon.
According to the Department of Public Safety, a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee was eastbound on Interstate 90 around 8:10 p.m. near mile marker 406 when it collided with a 2017 Kentworth T-270 tow truck.
The truck was working partially in the lane of travel, trying to pull another vehicle out of the median. The truck had its flatbed lowered onto the Interstate’s shoulder and roadway.
The Grand Cherokee drove onto the flatbed, vaulted over the cab of the tow truck and rolled.
The 43-year-old female driver, Traci Scholl, was was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle, the DPS said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The tow truck driver, 28-year-old Mitchell Stinger of Sioux Falls, was was not injured.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash.
