Governor Daugaard reacts to South Dakota election results

PIERRE, S.D. - Governor Dennis Daugaard issued two statements Tuesday night as results came in for the races for Governor of South Dakota and U.S. House of Representatives.

Governor Daugaard congratulated Republican Dusty Johnson on winning South Dakota's lone seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.

"I was proud to have Dusty as my chief of staff, and I will be very proud to have him as my representative in Washington," the Governor said.

Democratic candidate Billie Sutton didn't concede to Republican Kristi Noem until midnight. After that race was called, Governor Daugaard released a statement congratulating Noem and her running mate, Larry Rhoden.

"Over the coming weeks, my administration will do everything we can to help the Governor-elect and her team prepare to take office on January 5," Governor Daugaard said.
