Great Horned Owl takes flight after rehabilitation at the Great Plains Zoo

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KSFY) - A rehabilitated Great Horned Owl is back in the wild, thanks to a care team at the Great Plains Zoo.

It was released in a secluded area on the grounds of the zoo Wednesday morning.

The owl was brought to the zoo by a South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks officer after it was found in Harrisburg unable to fly.

Staff members were able to bring the bird back to a healthy weight and helped it regain its flying skills.
