SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KSFY) - Winter Storm Watches and Warnings and even Winter Weather Advisories are in effect from tonight through Sunday.
Up to a foot of snow is in the forecast anywhere from Winner, to Valentine and Gregory. Another target for heavy snow is in Southwest Minnesota where 6-10 inches is not out of the question. Sioux Falls will generally see 3-6 inches of snow. The snow will begin late tonight, starting in Southern South Dakota and gradually increasing to the east through the day Saturday.
Other than the snow, another concern is for the development of freezing rain late tonight. Anywhere along the Interstate 90 corridor may see ice form late tonight, coming to an end Saturday morning. Be careful on the roads and drive slowly.
As the low pressure drifts east, the question then is how slow it makes that move east. If it takes its sweet old time, more snow may impact much of Sunday. For now, it looks like the snow will come to an end by early to mid afternoon on Sunday.
Plan on typical wintry weather as the storm exits on Sunday. The 7-Day Forecast is showing dry, but also cold weather! High temperatures will remain in the 20s, with low temperatures in the teens and single digits.
