SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Eastbound I-90 will be closed from the Minnesota state line to three miles east of I-90 Exit 1 in Minnesota beginning Thursday.
Eastbound I-90 traffic will be placed in a two-way traffic diversion in the westbound lanes until the late May. Minnesota Exit 1 eastbound I-90 on and off ramps will also be closed.
Motorists on I-90 traveling to Minnesota TH 23 (Luverne, Minn.) will be detoured at Exit 410 south on Minnehaha County 105, east on Minnehaha County 138 and Minnesota CSAH 4, and then north on Minnesota CSAH 17/TH23 to Minnesota TH23.
The South Dakota Department of Transportation and the Minnesota Department of Transportation said drivers should be alert to suddenly slowing and merging traffic, pay close attention to speed limit, exit and detour signing and be aware of construction workers and equipment adjacent to the driving lanes.
The closures and detour will assist with the install of a weigh-in-motion system by Henry Carlson Construction of Sioux Falls.
