VERMILLION, S.D. - Fresh off an election win in Iowa's 4th District, Congressman Steve King made a stop in South Dakota Thursday to tour the Lewis and Clark Water Treatment Plant north of Vermillion.
The water system is looking to expand its service across the border to include towns in Sioux and O'Brien counties. Leaders from those communities and Rep. King toured the plant to see what Lewis and Clark can provide.
"We have an incredible water treatment plant here near Vermillion," Troy Larson with Lewis and Clark Regional Water said. "And this facility will serve the entire tri-state region. Right now we are serving water to 14 of our 20 members. Rock Rapids is connected, but we still need to connect Hull, Sioux Center, Sheldon and Sibley."
Lewis and Clark hopes to have Sioux Center and Sheldon connected to its water service within a couple of years.
