SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KSFY) - It can be difficult for some families to afford Christmas gifts, so JCPenney helped spread some holiday cheer on Monday.
The store hosted a "Giving Spree" shopping event for 25 deserving kids from the Boys & Girls Club in the Sioux Empire.
Each child received a $100 gift card to purchase new clothes, coats and shoes, as well as presents for their family.
"Since we have like, we have five other kids, so it's not that easy to get everybody a good enough amount of Christmas presents, so it's a better opportunity for me to get a little more this year," Lilly Lopez said.
This year, the retailer expanded the program to host a "Giving Spree" in each state and Puerto Rico, benefiting more than 1,200 low-income children.
