Local Girl Scouts stock up on cookies to sell beginning Feb. 13

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KSFY) - Girl Scout cookie season has returned.

The Dakota Horizons chapter in Sioux Falls starting receiving their boxes Friday.

Cookies officially go on sale Feb. 13.

The cookie program is the Girl Scouts' largest fundraiser, which allows the girls take part in all sorts of activities.

"They're maybe gonna travel, or go to summer camp, perhaps they're going to a destination," communications manager Stacey Andernacht said. "We had girls go to London, England last year, and a lot of them actually take those proceeds and invest them back in the community."

And those who do not have a sweet tooth or are still sticking to their New Year's resolution, there are other options to help the Girl Scouts out.

They have a Gift of Caring option where people can buy cookies for military service members.
