Man arrested in string of indecent exposures in Sioux Falls

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KSFY) - A 22-year-old man has been arrested after a string of indecent exposures in Sioux Falls, police said.

Sioux Falls Police arrested Carl William Ryckman Wednesday afternoon at his residence on the 700 block of west 18th Street. Ryckman is facing three counts of indecent exposure - all Class 1 misdemeanors. He's currently being held on a $10,000 cash bond.

The string of indecent exposures began May 12 when a woman told police a man drove up pretending to need directions, and when she came over to give them to him, he was exposed and masturbating. The incident took place near 23rd Street and Spring Avenue. The victim was able to give police a description of Ryckman as well as his vehicle's description and license plate.

Two more incidents were reported May 13. One took place near 35th Street and Lyndale Avenue and the other took place near 31st Street and Jefferson Avenue. In both cases, victims reported a man asking for directions, exposing himself and began masturbating. The suspect was described the same way each time, a white male in his 20’s, with dark hair and facial hair.

Police said that the victims who took down his license plate were crucial in capturing him.

He is scheduled to appear in court Thursday.
