Marshalls, HomeGoods open Thursday at Lake Lorraine

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KSFY) - Sioux Falls shoppers are set to welcome two retailers developers say people have been asking for for years.

If you enjoy the thrill of the hunt and brand names for less, then you’ll be happy to know both HomeGoods and Marshalls open Thursday morning.

KSFY News reporter Erika Leigh was able to get inside and see a sneak peek of what you can expect.

"This has always been our number one request on Facebook, and the information that we're getting from consumers that they really want a HomeGoods/Marshalls here in Sioux Falls, so we're really excited that we could accomplish that and bring it to town," Steve Van Buskirk with Van Buskirk Companies said.

HomeGoods -- a spot to find a little bit of everything you never knew you needed and much more.

"I think they're gonna find an amazing selection of home fashions and decor from all different styles and amazing brand names," HomeGoods spokesman Liz Zahn said. "It's definitely gonna be a game changer for their homes."

This store is unique. It is part of a new TJX brand concept they have been rolling out the past few years. You wont have to leave one store to go to the other -- HomeGoods and Marshalls are under one roof.

Primarily, the difference is just the ease in being able to shop both stores.

"You'll notice when you pull up in the parking there's two separate entrances for each the HomeGoods and the Marshalls, but inside you'll be able to shop both, you'll be able to check out for your home merchandise at the same time as your clothing merchandise," Zahn said.

The company said it is excited to serve a community full of eager shoppers.

"We are thrilled to finally be opening in South Dakota, and of course in Sioux Falls, and we know that the Sioux Falls community loves to shop our sister brand TJ Maxx, and I know that they're gonna love to shop Marshalls and HomeGoods," Zahn said.

And developers said these retailers will bring others to town too.

"Part of our development plan is having these stores in here first -- they're the draw for a lot of the other retailers that are going to follow on in our next phases," Van Buskirk said.

He said Sioux Falls can expect an announcement for another retailer as well as a hotel coming soon, but in the meantime, both HomeGoods and Marshalls are open at 8 a.m. on Thursday.

Carter's OshKosh B'gosh also opens at Lake Lorraine on Thursday. Van Buskirk said the next retailer expected to open is DSW in February, plus another yet-to-be-announced store opening around the same time.
