MITCHELL, S.D. (KSFY) - Police in Mitchell say a man was not seriously injured after accidentally shooting himself in the leg while practicing his "quick draw" Saturday night.
Det. Lt. Don Everson said police were called to a Mitchell hospital just after 7:10 p.m. for a report of a 19-year-old with a gunshot wound.
Police learned the accident happened when the man was at his home in the 1400 block of Main St. He drew a .45 caliber revolver -- which he thought was unloaded -- quickly out of his holster and it fired.
After hitting the man's leg, the bullet went into the floor, but did not leave the home. No one else was injured.
Another person was at the home during the incident.
Criminal charges are possible, Everson said.
