(KSFY) - More Americans are expected to travel this Thanksgiving than have in more than a decade, AAA projects.
54.3 million people will journey at least 50 miles for the holiday, according to AAA, a 4.8 percent increase over last year.
This is expected to be the busiest Thanksgiving on the roads since 2005.
A vast majority of the travel will take place on the road. AAA estimated 48.5 million will drive for the holiday, five percent higher than 2017.
Gas prices are expected to average around $2.79 a gallon, the highest they have been on Thanksgiving in four years.
