BONESTEEL, S.D. (KSFY) – Authorities say a 36-year-old man from Edmonton Alberta, Canada, has been identified as the person who died Friday in a one-vehicle crash east of Bonesteel.
According to the Department of Public Safety, Jagdish Singh was the passenger in a 2014 Volvo semi-truck and trailer which was northbound on U.S. Highway 281 when the driver lost control as the vehicle entered a curve. The semi-truck and trailer rolled into the west ditch.
The victim was thrown from the truck and was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt, the DPS said.
Gurpreet Brar, 32, of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, was the driver. He sustained serious non-life injuries. He was wearing a seatbelt and was taken by ambulance to the hospital in Wagner, according to the DPS.
Charges are pending against the driver.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
