(KSFY) - Construction of a new wind energy facility in Grant and Roberts counties was approved by the South Dakota Public Utilities Commission Friday.

Dakota Range III consists of 42 wind turbines generating 151.2 megawatts of energy.

Before approval, the project agreed to meet 42 conditions, including noise level, turbine blade ice detection, aircraft detection lighting and shadow flicker.

Dakota Range expects the project to be in service by the end of 2020.
