Olympian Jackie Joyner-Kersee visits Sioux Falls

Six-time Olympic medalists Jackie Joyner-Kersee visited Sioux Falls Wednesday afternoon.

She was part of an internal leadership, learning, and development group at POET.

While in town, Joyner-Kersee will also be attending a fundraising event for Seeds of Change, an international non-profit housed in POET, founded by Jeff and Tammie Broin and their family.

The Jackie Joyner-Kersee Foundation is located in St. Louis. They help children by providing after-school programs, such as sports, reading and leadership development.

"I was very fortunate to be around great people who invested in me and saw the potential in me that I did not know I had," Joyner-Kersee said.

She added she hopes these kids can take the lessons they've learn and use them in their lives and eventually, come back and invest in the community.
