Sioux Falls, S.D. - Thousands of people gathered at the Sioux Falls Arena Saturday in a walk to fight juvenile diabetes.
The "One Walk" supporting the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDFR) is the largest fundraiser of the year for the Dakotas.
Jon Erickson has been participating in the walk for 16 years.
His youngest son Adam has type 1 diabetes, so this walk is something special for him and his family.
“We’ve seen in 16 years that we have been involved, that the management and treatment of diabetes has gotten better and that fundraising, here in Sioux Falls and across the country, and world has made a difference,” Erickson said. “But, ultimately we still need to raise more dollars so the cure is found.”
Jon said over those 16 years they've been able to raise nearly $170,000 for Adam's army walk team.
