It was a 'changing of the guard' for Sioux Falls' top job. After eight years, Mike Huether's time as Mayor is done.
We caught up with the new Mayor Tuesday night.
"Transitioning with Mayor Mike has been awesome. He's been super gracious. We've been co-locating. He's been pulling me in on meetings. It's been a very very smooth transition with Mike," Mayor Paul TenHaken said.
Mayor TenHaken led his first city council meeting with a group he's looking forward to working with.
A lot of different skill sets brought to the table,. which means for a lot of different opinions and thoughts on the issues. Which in my opinion means Good dialogue, good discussion and lots of good decisions being made," he said. "I'm ready to get three or four council meetings under my belt to get the rhythm going. I've sat on the other side of many of these. It's different when you're running the meeting. It'll be good to get a few of these under my belt and become a seasoned pro."
The new Mayor is wasting no time getting right to work Wednesday morning.
"I start out at 8 a.m., meeting with the fire chief about some capital project work, the chamber, finance and central services tomorrow. A lot of listening and a lot of learning."
