Police: Man arrested after ramming patrol car

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KSFY) - Police in Sioux Falls say a man has been arrested after he rammed into the patrol car of an officer who pulled him over Monday night.

Public Information Officer Sam Clemens said the incident happened just before midnight when the officer spotted the black 2008 Mitsubishi Eclipse driving the wrong way on 11th Street.

Clemens said the driver was going about 50 mph.

The vehicle pulled over into a driveway in the 400 block of 11th Street, and the officer pulled in behind him.

After the officer got out of the patrol car, Clemens said the driver began backing into the vehicle several times, almost hitting the officer.

The officer arrested 42-year-old Christopher Kakaulani Shim, a transient from Sioux Falls, for aggravated assault on law enforcement, driving the wrong way, reckless driving, DWI 2nd, possession of a stolen vehicle and false impersonation.

Clemens said the vehicle was stolen out of Rock County, Minnesota.
