Police: Student arrested after assaulting, spitting on officer

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KSFY) - Police in Sioux Falls say a student has been arrested after he assaulted and spit on a school resource officer.

Capt. Loren McManus said the SRO responded to a 15-year-old boy who was acting up Wednesday at Washington High School.

When the officer attempted to get the boy under control, he allegedly spit in the officer's face.

Authorities arrested the student on disturbance of school, resisting arrest, simple assault and two counts of intentionally causing contact with bodily fluids or human waste.

The officer's finger was injured during the altercation.
