SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Sioux Falls police are investigating claims of bigamy brought forward by a Sioux Falls woman.
The report was received Thursday. Capt. Loren McManus said the woman told police she and her husband were married in 2013, and shortly after the marriage began to fall apart.
She said her husband left the relationship in March 2019. The woman told police she hasn't heard from her husband since that time, but recently discovered he has gotten married.
Police said the woman's belief is that the couple's marriage is still valid and hasn't been dissolved.
Bigamy is a class 6 felony. McManus said the investigation is going and charges have not been filed. Police are still looking into the claims.
