Police arrest suspect in connection to deadly Sioux Falls shooting

Authorities say they have arrested a suspect in connection to a fatal weekend shooting in Sioux Falls.

The suspect was arrested around 10 p.m. Sunday in Sioux Falls, according to Capt. Blaine Larsen. His name has not yet been released.

In a briefing Monday morning, Larsen initially said police arrested a "person of interest," but later identified him as a suspect. Larsen said he was on parole, and will likely be charged in connection to the shooting some time this week.

Police identified the victim as 37-year-old Jeremy Flynn. He was found with a gunshot wound in an alley near 14th Street and 3rd Avenue around 3:30 p.m. Sunday.

Larsen said Flynn was a parolee who had been living at the St. Francis House homeless shelter.

Authorities are expected to release new details Monday morning about a fatal weekend shooting in Sioux Falls.

Police say they found the body of the victim in an alley near 14th Street and 3rd Avenue Sunday afternoon. Witnesses told police they saw a man leaving the scene in a gray sedan.

The Sioux Falls Police Department is expected to release more details during its daily media briefing at 10:30 a.m.
