SD Civil Air Patrol conducts statewide training exercise

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Members of the South Dakota Civil Air Patrol are working to take their skills to higher levels.
They conducted a statewide search and rescue exercise.
The command post was at the Sioux Falls Regional Airport and staging areas were set up in Rapid City and Spearfish.
Crews conducted several different training operations including ground and aerial searches for missing aircrafts and missing people.
“This helps us maintain our state of readiness, and keeps our members active in their current knowledge of their roles and responsibilities, and also helps our members train for new roles and responsibilities moving forward,” Cadet Lieutenant Colonel Joshua Klosterman said.
This exercise occurs every several months and is often the only time members they can they review their knowledge of these kinds of tasks.
