SDSU Jackrabbit Football prepares for takeoff to Virigina, Friday afternoon

South Dakota State University Football fans: the countdown is on. This weekend, the Jackrabbits take on James Madison University in the FCS Semifinals.

Kickoff is Saturday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. in Harrisonburg, Virginia.

The Sioux Falls Regional Airport was full of that Jackrabbit blue and yellow, Friday afternoon. KSFY News caught up with the team as they prepared for their flight.

"It's a crazy ride. So much fun!"

As coaches, players and their biggest fans -- their family -- prepare for takeoff.

"It's been a great season. It's taken them so long to get to this level of the program. We're here now in the last four. We're looking forward to finishing the season strong," Stacy Eide said. Stacy is the father of Defensive Back Lance Eide from Clear Lake.

"It's amazing to see our kid go from a 9-man program, on an 80 yard field to these moments that they get to do and it's an awesome ride for everyone," Lance's mother Jackie Eide said.

Players know this game is their biggest yet.

"It's win or go home. Playoff time. It's exciting to be playing htis late in December and we're looking forward to an opporutnity to play," Jacks QB Taryn Christion said.

"To see it build and build and build every year since coming here. That's a testiment to SDSU football and continually wanting to get better when we don't win championships. We've been working and building ever year. It's awesome to be a part of," Jacks RB Brady Mengarelli said.

Coach John Stiegelmeier said he couldn't be more proud.

"We just need to play our best football. If we do that, that's all we can ask of our team. I think we're a rewally good football team. We're one of only four left so we'll see," Coach John Stiegelmeier said.

Catch the game against the James Madison Dukes Saturday at 3:30 p.m. on ESPN-U. The winner of that game will play the winner of North Dakota State vs. Sam Houston State for the title in Frisco, Texas, January 6.
