SDSU football coach, Feeding South Dakota launch child hunger fundraiser

Feeding South Dakota is working with South Dakota State University head football coach John Stiegelmeier to raise money to fight child hunger.

Stiegelmeier and his family will match all donations, dollar for dollar, made toward Feeding South Dakota's Childhood Hunger Programs, the organization announced Monday morning.

The special fundraiser runs May 13 through May 24. Stiegelmeier will match donations up to $12,000, according to Feeding South Dakota.

One of the biggest beneficiaries of the fundraiser will be Feeding South Dakota's BackPack Program, which helps fill the gap for food insecure families who lose access to school lunches during the summer months.

People who make donations during Stiegelmeier's fundraiser are eligible for several prizes, including:

• All donors are eligible to win a dinner for two with Coach John and Laurie Stiegelmeier..
• All donors providing gifts for $500 or more are eligible to win four club level tickets and a parking pass to a 2019 South Dakota State University home football game of the winner’s choice.
• All donors who give $1,000 or more are eligible to win two passes to travel with the 2019 Jackrabbit's football team to a game of the winner’s choice.
