Our Touchstone Energy Scholar of the Week is Abby Dethlefsen, a senior at Corsica-Stickney High School. She's got a 4.0 GPA and a long list of achievements and activities.
Like many of us say toward the end of high school, "time flies".
"Crazy fast. Seems like yesterday I was just a freshman," Senior Abby Dethlefsen said.
But Abby has stayed pretty busy ever since her very first year.
"You have to make sure you set aside time for all your other activities. 4H, FCCLA, National Honor Society. You keep time so you -- if you have projects or a speech to write -- you have time to do it," she said.
She manages to find the time for everything.
"Sometimes it's hard to find the motivation. You just sit around for awhile and have to be like 'OK, I have to get something done' and remember to keep your grades up, you've gotta get stuff done," she said.
Corsica-Stickney High School teachers tell KSFY News Abby is one of those students they never have to worry about.
"She's an individual that shows by example. She's an individual as far as leadership, team player, hard work. She's knows what the word 'best' means because that's what she's going to give ya," Computer, Business Teacher, Tech Coordinator Mike Tuschen said.
She's considering a career in speech therapy following a degree from, possibly, South Dakota State,
She knows for sure, she'll miss Corsica-Stickney, and of course:
"Being with friends everyday. A lot of us will be separated so you won't get to see them a lot so not seeing them everyday," she said.
For being named our Scholar of the Week, Abby receives a $100 scholarship from Central Electric Cooperative Association which is a local Touchstone Energy Cooperative.
