Scholar of the Week: Ally Young at Sioux Falls Christian High School

Ally Young is a senior at Sioux Falls Christian High School where she has gone to school since kindergarten. Her teachers there say she's stood out for many years as a well-rounded scholar, athlete and young lady

"My parents have always encouraged me to do my best and always continue to do more I've had so many people in my life that are always telling me to do more and improve myself. so I've been striving to do my best in everything I do," Sioux Falls Christian Senior Ally Young said.

She's no stranger to taking the most challenging of classes.

"I'm taking AP Calculus, AP Statistics, AP Government, AP Spanish and AP English," she said.

That's never surprised Sioux Falls Christian staff.

"Ally is a go-getter, very driven. This yer we're working out her schedule, and she wanted to take six AP classes and we could only put five in there. She's always looking at how she can push herself further and be the best she possibly can," SFC Chief Education Officer Pam Tiefenthaler said.

Chief Education Officer Pam Tiefenthaler admits there are a lot of scholars at Sioux Falls Christian but Ally really stands out as well-rounded, too.

"She pushes herself academically. A lot of things she's done, helps volunteer. She's a well-rounded students who does a lot of things very well," Tiefenthaler said.

That success will take her to Augustana University in the fall of 2019.

"I've always been interested in the medical field," she said. "In life science, anatomy and those classes have always been so interesting to me."

She values her education and the friendships she's made along the way.

"I've been going to Sioux Falls Christian since kindergarten. I've known a lot of these people for my entire life. We've been together, grown together, Educationally through life, walking through that together," she said.

For being named our Scholar of the Week, Ally receives a $100 scholarship from Southeastern Electric Coop, a Touchstone Energy Cooperative.
