Our KSFY Touchstone Energy Scholar of the Week is Bayden Schneider, a senior at Chester Area School.
The stand-out senior is active in sports, volunteering and has excelled in his academics with a bright future ahead.
Bayden Schneider knows school is supposed to be tough but really enjoys the challenge.
"I like to work hard to get where I want to be and I know hard work pays off so eventually, some of it will pay off," Chester Area Senior Bayden Schneider said.
There are people he thanks for that work ethic, including his teachers.
"They're tough on you because they know you can take it," Schneider said. "My parents have always pushed me so it's good to take that into college and beyond to have that work ethic, to continue on and work hard."
He's worked hard for his 4.0 Grade Point Average and it shows.
"A student like Bayden is very rare to have in your classroom," Chester High School Math Teacher Misty Larson said.
Misty Larson teaches high school math and knew Bayden would be perfect for this Scholar of the Week recognition.
"He's a very good math student but he's also just a really good overall student. He's well-rounded, carries a 4.0 GPA, but he's good in all his classes. I'm just his math teacher. He's involved in just about everything here at Chester. He has a drive that we just don't see everyday," Misty Larson said.
Bayden plans to attend either South Dakota State or the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology next year.
"I want to be a civil engineer that designs buildings and bridges and structures anywhere in the U.S.," he said.
But his heart will always be here at home.
Right now, he tells KSFY, Chester is one place he's really going to miss.
"I'll look back and think about the times, friends and family. Participating in sporting events. Homecoming for sure. I'll miss teachers especially because they've helped guide me on the path I want to be," Schneider said.
For being named our Scholar of the Week, Bayden receives a $100 scholarship from Sioux Valley Energy which is a local Touchstone Energy Cooperative.
